Untitled (2023)

‘What if I end up stuck at a job I hate?’, ‘how am I supposed to be able to afford to meet the cost of living?’, ‘what if everything goes as it should and I’m still not happy?’. Taking the form of cinematic stills, this project is about the “What Ifs” and explores the overwhelming anxiety and dread that has been so graciously placed upon me before I have even had a fighting chance. Due in part to my love for film, as well as its ability to have such a profound impact on the lives of individuals, I have chosen to photograph each image as a still from a film. Each triptych embodies what I fear my future will look like. Each set of three is designed to look and feel as if it is a still from a film in which each character is living out the life I fear; one in which my anxieties are my reality.
